Recently you completed waterproofing work on the basement in my home in Lower Gwynedd.

I am a Realtor in the business for almost twenty years. During that time I have met many different contractors! When I needed waterproofing work done at my personal home, I interviewed at least six contractors. Most made the job seem like a huge problem and gave me a very high cost to do the work.

When I met you, I found you to be very fair in your initial estimate of the amount of work required and the cost. When you finished, I was even more pleased with the quality of your work. You left my home clean as a whistle. There were no "extra" charges.

Dear A.J.,

I had several waterproofing companies out to provide estimates on waterproofing my basement. Unfortunately, I originally retained a company that offered a nominal discount to your estimate while representing the exact work you recommended. What a huge mistake. Not only was poor workmanship performed and the represented work never competed, but the original contractor broke a water pipe, yet never reported the damage. Actually, the list of problems regarding this first contractor are so voluminous I won't go any further.

Though embarrassed by explaining to you my mistake in hiring the original contractor, I trusted and knew you would perform the work as you represented. Hiring you was a real stress relief from the minute your men arrived to the minute they left. I was immediately impressed by the care you and your workers took in ensuring my home would remain clean. In fact, my home, yard and basement were cleaner during and after your arrival than before the work commenced. I was truly impressed by your workers cleaning my basement walls and floor leaving them cleaner than any time I lived here. In addition the workmanship of your concrete work was exceptional. Your workers' obviously take pride in their work, arrived on time and completed the work as represented. As you know, I described an unusual trouble spot where water enters my basement. I greatly appreciate your taking time to create a unique solution to this location which was in addition to the work provisions.

I have hired contractors over the years for numerous home projects, from windows, doors, kitchens to bathrooms, and have never come across a contractor who not only performed excellent workmanship, but also was always courteous in taking care of my home like it was your own.

Finally, I have never written a complimentary letter to a contractor in my life. However, despite busy schedules, I felt it was the least I could do to advise you of my appreciation for your exceptional work and attention to detail. My wife and I certainly will recommend A.J. Waterproofing to family and friends and have already done so.
